Dean Smith's Resistol "Diamond Horseshoe" Las Vegas" style Hat

Purchased by Dean Smith directely from the Edward H. Bohlin shop in Hollywood CA. Resistol Self Conforming "Diamond Horseshoe" "Las Vegas" style Hat. Size 7 1/8". Fitted with period horsehair hatband. Dean Smith was born in 1932 in Breckenridge, Texas. Attended the University of Texas and was a track athlete in the 1952 Summer Olympics. He played professional football for the Rams and Steelers before heading to Hollywood. Smith became a professional rodeo cowboy as well as a stuntman in various Western moves such as The Alamo, The Comancheros, El Dorado and Rio Bravo. He was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2006. Condition: Excellent, showing light period use. Provenance: From the Smith Estate
